Dates
We start on 18/19 May 2013 and continue on 29/30 June, 27/28 July, 14/15 September and 19/20 October
What does it cost and how can I pay?
The price for the complete course (5 weekends) is £500, if paid in full in advance. This includes meals in the house and accommodation in shared eco-cabins in a quiet part of the extensive grounds around the Lodge. Other options for accommodation are available - we will publish details soon.
We are offering several ways to make the cost affordable and, if the fee is difficult for you to find, you are encouraged to negotiate with us. Bursaries, in the form of work-exchange or "community trading" may be avialable for those in financial hardship, although these will depend on the number of well-resourced people attending the course. Contact Jim.or Angus to discuss.
Venue
Wiston Lodge is a former Victorian Hunting Lodge built in the 1850s. It is located near Lanark in Scotland, an hour from both Glasgow and Edinburgh and slightly over an hour's drive from Carlisle, just 10 minutes from the M74 (J13). Yet the house and grounds offer a remote rural experience, far from any shops and other distractions.
There are open fires to sit round, and a large games hall. Outside, the 52-acre estate is a rich mixture of woodlands, gardens and a campsite.
Wiston Lodge is at the foot of Tinto, a landmmark in Scotland's southern uplands and very popular with walkers, hill-runners and other outdoor enthusiasts.
