Ecological Gardening and Practical Permaculture Skills

The 2021 programme of day courses and workshops runs from September 2021 to April 2022 and consists of 5 day courses and workshops. This programme is designed as a foundation in ecological gardening essential training when you attend all workshops. Alternatively, you can attend workshops as stand alone day courses. Choose what best suits your needs and level of experience.

Ecological gardening is different from conventional gardening. Eco gardening practice shifts the focus to low maintenance gardening, using regenerative patterns of cultivation found in natural systems. When a garden is well designed from an ecological perspective it generates abundance, biodiversity and self-sustaining gardenscapes.

Directions to the venue

All workshops will take place in Broadbottom near Hyde, the venue is only a few minutes walk away from the train station. The current programme supports the development of a one acre riverside, thriving permaculture garden.

BY CAR: Once in Broadbottom find the train station where you can park all day for free. Once you are parked, enter the station and cross over the platform and find the gate that leaves the platform.

Once you are out of the station, on the woodland side, follow the path down into the woods towards a row of cottages and then continue to walk along the front of the houses - The course is being held at Number One which is the last house on the left.

Alternatively, you can drive down Moss Lane, turn left at the end onto the unmade road and after a short distance park (by the bins and Etherow sign) Continue on foot until you get to the row of weavers cottages - continue to walk along the front of the houses - The course is being held at Number One which is the last house on the left.

BY TRAIN: If you come from Manchester by train you also cross over the bridge. Walk along the platform and walk through the gate. If you come from Glossop then you are already on the correct side of the platform.

The programme was designed based on feedback from our students who look forward to master a wide range of practical skills and techniques that are useful to permaculture designers.
