PDC at The Gathering Fields – What to bring with you

For staying overnight, you should bring your usual travelling kit. Everyone should bring a pillowcase and a sheet or a sleeping bag inner. There is a shower so please bring towels and suitable footwear.

We don't bring outdoor shoes into the training room. There is a smooth wooden floor – again please bring some appropriate footwear for this.

Please bring waterproof coats and boots in case of bad weather.

A torch could also prove handy, just in case ...

If you are traveling by car, it will be a big help if you can bring your own bedding – duvet or sleeping bag and pillows. There are bunk platforms to sleep on, but to be on the safe side, you could bring a sleeping mat, too.

If you are traveling by pubic transport, please check your needs with us to make sure you will be comfortable.

You may also bring any of your favourite food, snacks or teas etc with you. We have a small fridge that we can use to store perishables. We are some distance from the shops but there will be some opportunities to restock personal items during the course.

If you have them handy, you could also consider bringing such (non-essential) items as:

  • tablet or laptop (but note that wi-fi may not be available)

  • notepad or sketchpad

  • pens and coloured pencils

  • compass

  • indoor shoes or slippers

  • books and magazines to share for the duration of the course e.g. field guides (plant/tree/bird/grass/insect identification), eco-building etc

  • a memory stick for shared information (as high a capacity as possible for video clips etc)

  • seeds and plant material to share (if you have excess in your own gardens/allotments)

  • musical instrument

  • info about your own site or projects - advice and guidance will be given on request!
