Design Course at The Community Eco-Centre, Wigan

This course is now rescheduled as the original format was not popular, contact us about our future plans..

The course is offered as "non-residential" - you should contact us if you do not live within daily communting distance and we will discuss options with you.

This full Permaculture Design Certificated course will run in two blocks of one week each. Part one runs from 30th June to 4th July 2014. Part two follows after a few months: from the 8th to 12th September 2014. There will be a small amount of private coursework to do in between the two parts. The course is also available on a modular basis (the days are integrated with our other courses in the region, so you can "mix 'n' match" the days you attend).

The venue is at Jack's House - a new eco-building of strawbale construction in the Worsley Hall allotments in Wigan.

The course is open to all, regardless of any previous experience or literacy levels. We will follow the international guidelines to cover the course syllabus. The course should also be useful to those wishing to apply permaculture in urban and sub-urban settings. In addition, the tutors and the expected participants should prove to be a useful resource for people who wish to apply permaculture design within their business or career, and also those involved in community-based projects of all kinds, including Transition Towns and Incredible Edible initiatives. You can read more about people who will benefit from the course.

The course will be led by Angus Soutar with support from visiting teachers. Angus has experience of permaculture design in commercial situations, and he is keen to share the lessons from this during the course.
