Whalley Woodland Garden Design Weekend Nov 2011

Come and help produce a design for the new "Forest Garden" in Whalley, near Clitheroe.

The project team are holding a design weekend on 26/27th November, starting 10.00am on the Saturday. Transition Towns, who are developing a "forest garden" have asked Angus Soutar and Victoria Dewhurst, from the Northern School of Permaculture, to lead us through the weekend.

Project co-ordinator Chris Gathercole says 'This is a great site for a forest garden - about two acres of open field and woodland on a south facing slope. We've started preparing the site for planting and creating a couple of ponds but your ideas for how we develop it will be most welcome.'

The site is near Whalley railway Station (on the Clitheroe Line) and next to Whalley Cricket Club. The weekend will start with a site tour which is open to local people and we will be looking for their ideas in devloping the garden. Meet in the Tennis Club car park at 10.00am on the Saturday 26th for a 10.15 start on site. More directions here. You should bring waterproof footwear and suitable outdoor clothes.

If you wish to join the design team and continue afterwards, over the weekend, you must book with us. For design team members, there will be a small charge of £20 to cover costs for the weekend and raise money for the garden, and we ask you to bring food to share at lunch.

Beginners welcome!
